§24.1 The communications domain

Open §24.1 in the academy

So far this course has focused heavily on non-communications emitters: radar, IR, laser, missile guidance. But a large part of the EW discipline is about communications — intercepting, locating, jamming and deceiving them — and about the wider domain of SIGINT (signals intelligence). This chapter covers that side, with the emphasis on communications jamming (COMJAM).

It is in effect EW (What is Electronic Warfare?) applied to the opponent's nervous system: his radios, data links and networks. The same principles as elsewhere return — only now the target is the link between people and systems.
