An EW system that has never been tried against a realistic threat is a gamble. You do not want to discover in the middle of a conflict that your threat library is out of date, that your jammer picks the wrong waveform, or that an ESM receiver does not recognise a new radar (EW receivers & DRFM under the bonnet, EW: Electronic Support Measures). This chapter is about the least visible but indispensable link: how EW is tested, validated and trained.
