§25.1 Why no single sensor is enough

Open §25.1 in the academy

No single sensor sees everything. Every detection method has blind spots — and a clever opponent aims his countermeasures at exactly that one sensor. A stealth shape avoids radar (Electronic Counter Measures), a fibre-optic drone emits no RF (Lessons from Ukraine (open source)), bad weather blinds EO/IR (Infrared). That is why modern systems combine several dissimilar sensors and merge their data: sensor fusion. Counter-UAS (Counter-UAS & drone EW) and the modern IADS (Executing the fire control sequence using the EMS) are the textbook examples.
